The Social Sales Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Sales and is responsible for all aspects of weddings and social events at The Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, develop an action plan and implement strategies to maximize revenues for the special event market, maintain effective management of the activities and bookings, respond to all inquiries in a timely manner, actively sells and up sells services to clients, acts as the liaison between clients and the venues operating departments, conducts professional site inspections, pre-event meetings and tastings, finalizes and services events while ensuring client satisfaction, revenue maximization and profitability of revenue goals. The ideal candidate will ensure a seamless coordination of all catering functions in accordance with hotel policies and procedures and ensure all events are organized effectively, develops customized presentations, quotes and negotiates pricing and terms of agreement within the established parameters, processes contracts and generates event orders for each function, organizes and distributes event orders to departments, communicates all changes effectively to ensure client satisfaction, as well as, control labor and food costs, follows up and collects deposits on scheduled intervals, works in conjunction with the Culinary and Banquet departments to prevent or troubleshoot areas of challenge during events, finalizes and reviews all aspects of the event with the client prior to the function, fosters relationships with suppliers and event and third party planners in order to increase business levels, follows up with client post-event to ensure complete satisfaction with our services, participates in tradeshows targeting the Wedding and Special Events segment, stays current with trends, assists with creation of new themes, special events and service standards. The Blackwell Inn is a 24/7 operation, as such, this position will operate with a flexible schedule and will require some evening and weekend hours.

The Sales and Catering Intern reports to the Associate GM, Director of Sales of the Blackwell Inn. This Intern is responsible for the overall administrative support of the sales department and will work with sales and catering managers and hotel associates to ensure the effectiveness and overall success of the department. The Sales and Catering Intern will provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times and will be responsible for exemplifying The Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center. The Intern will provide administrative support to the Sales and Catering department and general office duties, assist the Director of Sales with data entry, reports and special projects, maintains records for department, attend and take minutes during appropriate staff meetings, assist catering sales manager with vouchers for groups (breakfast, valet, etc.) and maintain confidentiality of department information and pertinent guest data. Assists with promotional and marketing including not limited to tradeshows and social media. This is an entry level, career-based internship and is intended for professional development of an applicant with only 6 to 24 months practical experience. Internship positions are appointed on an annual basis. Position will require a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.
