Job Description |
Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation, short-term and long-term planning of the rooms department and related areas of The Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center. |

Areas of responsibility include: housekeeping, laundry, guest services, reservations & revenue management, bell & concierge, security, valet, sundry/gift shop, fitness center, business center, and 3rd party vendors (contract cleaning services, window cleaning, OSU Transportation department, etc.). As a member of the operations Leadership Team, this position communicates regularly with General Manager; creates a collaborative environment with other hotel departments to ensure operational efficiency; ensures service and product standards are maintained as outlined by the quality assurance criteria; responsible for planning, monitoring and meeting all financial and qualitative objectives for the rooms division; leads by example utilizing a hands-on approach to management; ensures rooms division is in accordance with accounting standards; assists in revenue & yield management for the operation; provides consistent ongoing direction to staff members to ensure satisfaction of departmental goals and operational objectives; devises and implements programs to increase guest satisfaction; assures expectations are exceeded through proper employee training and actively listening; transforms issues into solutions, empowering staff members to ensure guest satisfaction. This is a full-time hands-on position for an operation open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and does require evenings, weekends and holidays. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Qualifications Required: Minimum 3-5 years of management experience, preferably in rooms; experience in forecasting and scheduling, daily reviews and analysis of operating results; knowledge of hotel operations, including security, reservations, revenue management, housekeeping, budget forecasting, and long-range planning; systems/programs knowledge regarding safety, property management, and quality assurance; experience in conflict resolution; excellent customer service skills; strong communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office products. Desired: Labor relations knowledge; experience using MICROS and Opera.
